This guide is for owners, operations heads and finance leads choosing inventory software for 2027 in the USA, Canada, the Gulf, the UK and Europe, or India. Flowpeak is a Zoho partner, so we work with Zoho Inventory every week, but we have kept this list fair: each tool is shown with who it suits and where it falls short, including Zoho Inventory. You get our ranking criteria, a comparison table, a short review of each product and a decision list by business type. We have left out licence prices because they change often; check each vendor's pricing page for your region.
How we ranked these inventory management tools
We checked each product against its vendor's own website and help pages in November 2026, and confirmed that each one is still sold in its current form. We scored them on six criteria. No vendor paid for a place on this list.
- Stock control depth: multi-warehouse, transfers, bins, reorder points, and batch, lot and serial tracking.
- Sales channel reach: native links to marketplaces, online stores and shipping carriers.
- Finance fit: how cleanly stock movements and landed costs flow into accounting.
- Manufacturing support: bills of materials, assemblies and production orders.
- Total cost of ownership: licences plus setup, add-ons, integrations and admin time.
- Regional fit: tax features, such as GST e-way bills in India, and fit for the USA, Canada, the Gulf, the UK/EU and India.

1. Zoho Inventory: best overall for growing businesses
Zoho Inventory ranks first because it gives small and mid-sized product businesses strong stock control, order management and channel sync in one tool, with a clear path into Zoho Books, Zoho CRM and the wider Zoho suite. It suits online sellers, wholesalers and distributors that have outgrown spreadsheets but do not need a full ERP yet.
Zoho offers Free, Standard, Premium, Plus and Enterprise editions. The Free plan covers 1 user, 1 location and 50 orders a month. What stands out:
- Multi-warehouse stock: track items across locations, move stock with transfer orders and use bin locations (listed from Premium). See our guide to multi-warehouse and transfers in Zoho Inventory.
- Batch and serial tracking: follow individual units and batch expiry dates, from Premium upwards. Our batch and serial tracking guide covers setup.
- Landed cost: add freight and customs charges to a bill and allocate them by value or quantity, so cost prices are real.
- Composite items, dropshipping and backorders on every edition, including Free.
- Channel and shipping links: Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopify and Walmart, plus UPS, USPS, FedEx and Easyship. Check availability in your country edition.
- Ask Zia: a chat assistant that answers stock, order and customer questions with links to act, plus a writing assistant. Confirm availability for your edition.
- Regional editions: the India edition supports GST e-invoicing and e-way bills, and native Zoho Books integration handles tax and accounting.
Honest watch-outs: each edition caps monthly orders, users and locations, so a fast-growing seller can hit limits and need add-ons or a higher plan. Batch and serial tracking, barcode generation and stock counting start at Premium. Businesses with multi-step production, routings and shop floor time tracking will find Katana or Fishbowl deeper. Pick the edition after counting your orders, locations and tracking needs.
2. Cin7 Core: best for multichannel brands and wholesalers
Cin7 sells Cin7 Core and Cin7 Omni, and Core is the out-of-the-box option for most growing brands. It manages channels such as Amazon, Shopify and WooCommerce from one place, and adds POS, assembly and advanced manufacturing, EDI and 3PL features. Cin7 lists more than 700 app partners and syncs with Xero and QuickBooks. ForesightAI forecasting and the B2B portal are add-ons.
- Choose it if: you sell across many channels, including wholesale, retail and marketplaces, and want one stock pool.
- Choose it if: you already run your books in Xero or QuickBooks and want to keep them.
- Skip it if: you want accounting, CRM and inventory from one vendor.
- Skip it if: you need features such as the B2B portal or forecasting but want them in the base plan, since Cin7 sells them as add-ons.
Where Cin7 Core beats Zoho Inventory: retail, wholesale and EDI breadth, and a larger integration marketplace.
3. Oracle NetSuite: best for mid-market firms needing full ERP
NetSuite puts inventory inside a complete cloud ERP, so stock, finance, purchasing and fulfilment share one database. It offers multi-location fulfilment rules, reorder points that adjust to seasonality and lead times, demand planning, lot and serial tracing, and Smart Count cycle counting. NetSuite WMS, with mobile scanning, putaway and wave picking, is a separate add-on module.
- Choose it if: you are a mid-market business with several entities, warehouses and a finance team that wants one ERP.
- Choose it if: you have budget for a structured implementation and an internal or partner admin.
- Skip it if: you are a small team that mainly needs stock control and order sync.
- Skip it if: you want to be live in weeks with little consulting help.
Where NetSuite beats Zoho Inventory: ERP depth, multi-entity finance, demand planning and full warehouse management.
4. Fishbowl: best for manufacturers and distributors on QuickBooks or Xero
Fishbowl is built for manufacturers and distributors that keep their books in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) or Xero, posting shipments, receipts and adjustments automatically. It covers bills of materials, work orders, MRP, lot tracing, transfers and barcode pick, pack and ship. Advanced Manufacturing and Advanced Warehousing editions add routing, lot genealogy, directed picking and EDI, and an AI assistant answers stock questions and drafts orders for approval.
- Choose it if: you manufacture or distribute and want to keep QuickBooks or Xero as your ledger.
- Choose it if: your warehouse runs on barcode scanning for picking and production.
- Skip it if: you are mainly an online retailer with simple stock.
- Skip it if: you want inventory and accounting from the same vendor.
Where Fishbowl beats Zoho Inventory: manufacturing depth, with MRP, work orders and lot genealogy, for firms that want to stay on QuickBooks or Xero.
5. Katana: best for small and mid-sized manufacturers
Katana is cloud inventory software for businesses that make what they sell. It offers multi-level bills of materials with routings, manufacturing orders linked to sales orders, a shop floor app for logging time, and batch, lot and serial tracking. Katana AI forecasts demand and drafts purchase orders, and it integrates with Shopify, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Amazon and WooCommerce.
- Choose it if: you run in-house or contract production and need live material availability and costs.
- Choose it if: you sell direct to consumers through Shopify and want production tied to orders.
- Skip it if: you resell finished goods and never build anything.
- Skip it if: you want a single vendor for CRM, accounting and inventory.
Where Katana beats Zoho Inventory: production planning, routings and shop floor tracking for manufacturers, which Zoho Inventory's assemblies do not fully cover.
6. Odoo Inventory: best for teams wanting a modular, open platform
Odoo Inventory handles multi-warehouse stock, routes with automatic transfers, putaway strategies such as ABC analysis and cross-docking, min-max and make-to-order replenishment, and lot and serial tracking. Its barcode tools read barcodes, QR and GS1 codes and work offline. Odoo advertises Inventory as free with unlimited users when used on its own, and an open-source Community edition exists. Check Odoo's pricing page before adding other apps.
- Choose it if: you want warehouse routing and putaway logic that you can extend with other Odoo apps later.
- Choose it if: you have access to an Odoo partner or in-house developers.
- Skip it if: you want a tool your team can set up alone in a week.
- Skip it if: you only need inventory and do not plan to use the wider Odoo suite.
Where Odoo beats Zoho Inventory: warehouse routing and putaway rules, plus open-source flexibility for teams with developers.
7. inFlow Inventory: best for small B2B teams that scan a lot
inFlow targets businesses from solo owners to teams of about 50. It focuses on barcoding, with its own rugged Smart Scanner and label printer, plus multi-location stock, a B2B portal and inFlow Manufacturing for assemblies. It lists more than 95 integrations, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, Shopify and Amazon. We saw a free trial on its site, not a free plan.
- Choose it if: your team picks and counts stock by scanning and wants matched hardware.
- Choose it if: you sell B2B and want customers to browse a catalogue online.
- Skip it if: you want a free plan to start on.
- Skip it if: you want inventory, accounting and CRM from one vendor.
Where inFlow beats Zoho Inventory: ready-made scanning hardware and a wide list of marketplace and EDI connections.
8. Sortly: best for simple stock and asset tracking
Sortly is a simple, mobile-first tool for tracking items, supplies, tools and equipment, with barcode and QR scanning, labels, low stock alerts and check-in and check-out. A free plan covers 1 user and 100 unique items, and the Premium plan can send invoices and purchase orders to QuickBooks Online.
- Choose it if: you track supplies, tools or assets rather than sell through many channels.
- Choose it if: you want something non-technical staff can use on a phone today.
- Skip it if: you need sales orders, marketplaces and shipping in one system.
- Skip it if: you need batch tracking, landed cost or multi-warehouse transfers.
Where Sortly beats Zoho Inventory: ease of use for simple item and asset tracking, with almost no setup or training.

What implementation involves
Inventory projects succeed or fail on clean data. Agree your item master (SKUs, units, variants, reorder points), warehouses and bins, opening stock and costs, and which items need batch or serial tracking. Then connect sales channels, carriers and accounting, and test a full cycle from purchase to delivery and invoice. Train buyers, warehouse staff and finance separately.
Data migration usually takes the most time, so map fields early and run a test import. Flowpeak delivers Zoho Inventory implementation remotely from Chennai at a fixed price agreed in writing after a free 30-minute call, with 30 days of free fixes after go-live. Katana and Fishbowl are built for manufacturing, with bills of materials, production orders and shop floor or MRP tools. Zoho Inventory handles assemblies and kits, which is enough for light production but not for complex routings.
