The City also charges its own Municipal Land Transfer Tax, with new graduated rates on high-value homes from April 1, 2026, which brokerages and developers track deal by deal. Finance firms face a different issue: most financial services are GST/HST exempt, so input tax credits are limited. We set Zoho Books with separate tax codes for each case. Confirm the treatment with your accountant.

Hiring and monitoring rules for Toronto employers

Toronto firms hire often, and Ontario's job posting rules apply from January 1, 2026 to employers with 25 or more employees. Public postings must show expected pay or a pay range, say whether a vacancy exists, disclose any AI used to screen applicants, and avoid Canadian experience requirements. Interviewed candidates must hear back within 45 days, and postings are kept for three years. Hybrid offices with 25 or more staff also need a written electronic monitoring policy.
