Sales tax and invoicing
Louisiana changed a lot on January 1, 2025. The state sales tax rate went up, and state and local tax now apply to digital products, prewritten software access services such as SaaS, and information services. The state's guidance says CRM and accounting software do not qualify for the production exemption. Parishes and cities add their own tax, and the state now offers a combined state and local return through Parish E-File. Remote sellers above the threshold report through the state's remote sellers commission. Payroll and HR rules
Louisiana moved to a single 3 percent individual income tax rate in 2025, with new withholding tables and an updated L-4 form for employees. Louisiana has no state minimum wage, so the federal rate applies to covered employers. Final pay is due by the next regular payday or within 15 days of leaving, whichever comes first, and earned vacation under your policy must be paid out.
