How Does a Remote Zoho Project Work for a Dubai Team?
By Harikrishnan, Founder & Chief Zoho Consultant, Flowpeak · 10+ years in Zoho · Published · Last updated
A remote Zoho project for a Dubai team runs on scheduled video workshops, a shared task list and written sign-offs. India is one and a half hours ahead of the UAE, so most of the working day overlaps. Plan around your working week, Ramadan hours and public holidays, and name one internal owner who approves decisions.

This post is for Dubai business owners and managers who are talking to a Zoho partner that works remotely, often from India, and want to know how the project will actually run day to day. It covers how much working time the two locations share, what the first week looks like, how to plan around the UAE working week and Ramadan, and how approvals and testing work without meeting in person. It ends with the mistakes that slow remote projects down and how to avoid them.
How much working time do Dubai and Chennai share?
Dubai uses Gulf Standard Time, four hours ahead of UTC. Chennai uses India Standard Time, five and a half hours ahead of UTC. Neither country changes its clocks for daylight saving, so the gap stays at one and a half hours all year.
That makes scheduling simpler than with Europe or North America. A Dubai team starting at 9am is starting at 10:30am in Chennai, and a 4pm review in Dubai is 5:30pm in Chennai.
In practice, this means you can hold live workshops on the same day you raise a question and see changes the next morning. Build work often happens in the partner's late afternoon, after your team has gone through the latest version, so feedback and fixes move in a steady daily rhythm.
| Dubai (GST) | Chennai (IST) | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00am | 10:30am | Daily check-in or kickoff |
| 11:00am | 12:30pm | Requirements workshops |
| 2:00pm | 3:30pm | Demos and user testing |
| 4:00pm | 5:30pm | Sign-off and next-day planning |
What happens in the first week of a remote Zoho project?
The first week sets the pace for everything after it. Expect to give it more of your time than any later week, because every decision made here saves rework during the build. A typical sequence looks like this:
- Kickoff call: introduce the people on both sides, confirm scope, agree the weekly meeting slot and who signs off.
- Access: your administrator adds the partner as users in Zoho with the right profile, so the partner never needs your own login.
- Process walkthrough: your team shares screens and shows how leads, quotes, orders or tickets move today, including the spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups involved.
- Sample data: you share a small export of real records so field design is based on your data, not guesses.
- Written design: the partner sends a short design document covering modules, fields, stages and automations for you to approve.
- Plan: both sides agree build, testing and training dates around holidays and busy periods.
How do you plan around the UAE working week, Ramadan and holidays?
Since January 2022 the UAE federal government has worked a four-and-a-half-day week with a Saturday and Sunday weekend, and many private companies follow a similar pattern, though private employers set their own weeks. Tell your partner your actual working days and any half days, so meetings and go-live do not land when your team is off.
Ramadan needs more planning. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that private-sector working hours would be reduced by two hours a day during Ramadan in 2026, as in previous years. With shorter days, workshops and user testing take longer to schedule. Many teams prefer to finish design before Ramadan and use the month for building, which needs less of their time.
Also note Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, UAE National Day and the Indian public holidays your partner observes. Put both sets in the project calendar at kickoff.
When you speak to a Zoho partner for Dubai businesses, ask how they handled their last project that ran through Ramadan.
How do approvals and testing work without meeting in person?
Remote projects work when decisions are written down. Ask for a short summary after each workshop listing what was agreed, open questions and who owns them.
For testing, the partner builds and demonstrates each part, then your team tries it with real scenarios. Where your edition includes it, the build should happen in a sandbox first. Zoho CRM Enterprise and Ultimate include sandboxes, and the number and type vary by edition. On lower editions, testing happens in the live account with care.
Useful habits for Dubai teams:
- Record demos so staff on leave or on site can watch them later.
- Use one channel for project messages, such as Zoho Cliq or a single WhatsApp group, rather than scattered chats.
- Collect test feedback in one shared list with screenshots, not in voice notes.
- Give sign-off by email or in the task list so there is a clear record.
What UAE setup points should you raise early?
Some decisions affect the build and are easier to settle in week one:
- Data centre: Zoho announced in January 2026 that it had opened data centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Confirm which data centre your account uses before you import data.
- Language: decide whether any users or customer-facing templates need Arabic.
- VAT: if Zoho Books or quotes in Zoho CRM are in scope, confirm your TRN, tax rates and invoice templates with your accountant.
- Messaging: list the channels customers use, often WhatsApp, so the partner can plan integrations.
What slows remote Zoho projects down?
Each of these is a planning issue, not a distance issue. A remote partner can move as fast as one down the road when access, ownership and feedback are clear.
- No single internal owner, so questions wait for whoever is free.
- Workshops with the manager but not the people who do the work every day.
- Sharing a director's login with the partner instead of creating partner users.
- Starting user testing in the last week of Ramadan or the week of Eid.
- Feedback spread across email, calls and three WhatsApp groups.
How does Flowpeak run projects for Dubai clients?
Flowpeak is based in Chennai, India, and works with Dubai and wider UAE clients remotely over video calls, in the hours our days overlap. We do not have a team in the UAE. Each project starts with a kickoff, a written design and a calendar that includes your working week, Ramadan and public holidays.
Zoho CRM standard setup starts at AED 1,850, and most CRM projects go live within two weeks, with integrations, complex workflows and Blueprints adding time. If you want to see how a remote project would fit your team's schedule, Book a free call.

Frequently asked questions
Is a remote Zoho partner slower than a local one?
Not usually. Most Zoho configuration, testing and training happens on screen, whether the partner is in Dubai or Chennai. Speed depends far more on how quickly your team answers questions, shares sample data and signs off designs than on where the partner sits.
Can training be done remotely for staff who are not at a desk?
Yes. Short recorded sessions work well for sales and field staff, followed by a live question-and-answer call. Zoho CRM has mobile apps, so training can include the phone screens your team will use. Keep sessions role-based and under an hour.
Should we pause a Zoho project during Ramadan?
Pausing is rarely needed. With private-sector hours reduced, plan fewer and shorter workshops, and use the month for build work that needs less of your team's time. Avoid scheduling go-live or user testing over Eid.
Does the partner need our admin password?
No. Your administrator should add the partner's staff as separate users with suitable profiles. That way you can see what they change in the audit log and remove their access when the project ends, without changing your own credentials.
