1. Confirm your dates

  • Check your annual revenue against the AED 50 million threshold
  • Revenue of AED 50 million or more: appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026 and issue e-invoices from 1 January 2027
  • Other businesses: mandatory from 1 July 2027 under the current Ministry of Finance decisions
  • Note any voluntary pilot you want to join (the pilot started on 1 July 2026)
  • Put your date and the person responsible in your project plan

2. Choose an Accredited Service Provider

  • Shortlist ASPs on the Ministry of Finance list
  • Ask each one how they connect to Zoho Books or your accounting system
  • Compare onboarding time, pricing and support hours
  • Sign the contract before your appointment deadline

3. Clean your invoice data

  • Every customer has a correct legal name, address and TRN where they are VAT registered
  • Every item and service has a clear description and the right VAT treatment
  • Credit notes link back to the original invoice
  • Remove duplicate customers and unused items

4. Set up Zoho Books

  • Confirm your organisation profile, TRN and tax settings
  • Map invoice, credit note and customer fields to the e-invoice data your ASP needs
  • Update invoice templates and numbering
  • Set user roles so only approved staff can issue invoices

5. Test before you go live

  • Send test invoices through your ASP in a sandbox
  • Check rejected invoices and fix the data behind them
  • Test credit notes and invoices in foreign currency
  • Agree who watches for failed submissions each day

6. After go-live

  • Review the first weeks of submissions for errors
  • Keep your ASP and Zoho Books settings documented
  • Train new finance staff on the process
  • Diary a check when the next Ministry of Finance update is published
