Zoho Partner Tiers Explained and How to Verify a Partner

By Harikrishnan, Founder & Chief Zoho Consultant, Flowpeak · 10+ years in Zoho · Published · Last updated

Zoho's consulting partner programme has three public tiers, Authorized, Advanced and Premium, after a New Partner stage. Zoho sets tiers each year from a value score covering revenue, customer success, certifications and engagement. To verify a partner, ask for its partner certificate and consultant certifications, call references and check Zoho's Find a Partner directory.

This guide is for business owners and managers who are comparing Zoho partners and keep seeing badges such as "Authorized" or "Premium" on websites and proposals. You will learn what each tier means according to Zoho's own partner pages, how Zoho scores partners, what a tier tells you about the team that will build your system and what it does not, and a step-by-step way to check a partner's claims. We also explain why a genuine partner may be missing from the directory, and what to check in different markets.

What are the Zoho partner tiers?

Zoho runs several partner programmes: Consulting, Global System Integrators, Value Added Distributors, Value Added Resellers, Affiliates and Marketplace developers. Most buyers deal with consulting partners, who implement, integrate, train and support. Zoho's partner tiers page names three tiers, Authorized, Advanced and Premium, and its benefits table also shows a New Partner stage before Authorized.

StageWhat Zoho requiresShown in Find a Partner?
New PartnerSigned up and onboarded; must meet the Authorized criteria within six monthsNo, profiles are published from Authorized upwards
AuthorizedA minimum revenue threshold, the required certifications and implementation successesYes, once the partner profile is approved
AdvancedA value score above 400 points out of 1,000Yes, with priority listing and an Advanced badge
PremiumA value score above 600 points, the highest levelYes, with priority listing and a Premium badge

Zoho says partners who do not meet the Authorized criteria are re-evaluated and may be removed from the programme.

How does Zoho decide a partner's tier?

Zoho calculates a value score with a maximum of 1,000 points in four groups:

  • Revenue: revenue growth against a regional benchmark, plus points for new customers. Revenue growth alone carries up to 400 points.
  • Customer success: retention rate, customer satisfaction ratings, and deductions for validated escalations.
  • Market readiness: product certifications, project scope documents or Marketplace integrations, and Zoho-approved case studies.
  • Zoho engagement: the number of staff dedicated to Zoho, and Zoho-related campaigns and branding.

Evaluation runs once a year. Zoho updates tiers by January of the following year, and partners must keep their certifications current to hold a tier. A badge on a website can therefore lag behind the partner's current status.

What does a tier tell a buyer, and what does it not?

A tier tells you the partner has a real, active relationship with Zoho, holds certifications and has passed Zoho's review. Higher tiers also signal more licence sales, more customers and more case studies.

A tier does not tell you who will work on your project, how deep their knowledge is in the app you need, or whether they have built anything like your process. Because revenue is a large part of the score, a firm that resells many licences can rank higher than a smaller team with more implementation depth in one product. Judge the people and the plan, not only the badge.

A useful test is to ask each shortlisted partner to walk you through a similar project they delivered, the Zoho settings they used and what they would do differently. The answer shows more than any logo.

How do you verify a Zoho partner step by step?

Whether you are hiring a Zoho implementation partner for a first rollout or a rescue, run these checks before you sign:

  1. Ask for the Certificate of Partnership. Zoho lists it as a programme benefit, so a real partner can share it.
  2. Ask which consultants will work on your project and request their individual Zoho certifications. For Zoho Creator, enter the certificate code on Zoho's Creator verification page.
  3. Search Zoho's Find a Partner directory. You can filter by country, industry experience, supported languages, certification and years with Zoho. Profiles show partnership status, case studies, reviews and the apps the partner implements most.
  4. Call two references with a similar size and process, and ask what went wrong and how it was fixed.
  5. Ask how licences will be billed, directly by Zoho or through the partner, and who holds the super admin account.
  6. Read a sample scope document. It shows how the team actually works.

Why might a real Zoho partner not appear in the directory?

A missing listing is a reason to ask, not proof of a false claim. Common reasons:

  • The firm is at the New Partner stage, before Authorized, so its profile is not yet published.
  • Its profile has not been updated and approved in Zoho's Partner Store.
  • The directory filters by your IP address and country first, so a partner based elsewhere may only appear when you change the country filter.
  • It is an affiliate or reseller rather than a consulting partner.

If a firm is not listed, ask for the partnership certificate and the partner's registered company name, then confirm with Zoho if you need certainty.

What should buyers in the USA, UK, Gulf, Canada and India check?

  • USA and Canada: Zoho notes that some listed partners do not have a local presence, so ask about working hours, contracts and invoicing currency up front.
  • UK and EU: a partner working in your Zoho account processes personal data for you under GDPR, so ask for a data processing agreement.
  • UAE and Saudi Arabia: Zoho runs data centres in both countries. Ask which data centre your account will use and whether the partner has set up Arabic layouts or local tax settings before. The language filter helps find Arabic-speaking teams.
  • India: ask for a GST-compliant invoice for the services and confirm whether licences come from the partner or from Zoho.

What mistakes do buyers make when checking a partner?

  • Treating a badge image on a website as proof without asking for the certificate.
  • Choosing on tier alone and never meeting the consultant who will do the work.
  • Assuming an unlisted firm is fake, or a listed firm is right for your industry.
  • Signing before seeing a written scope with deliverables and a change request process.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Premium Zoho partner always better than an Authorized one?

No. Premium reflects a higher value score, which weighs revenue heavily alongside customer success and certifications. A smaller Authorized or Advanced partner with deep experience in your app and industry can be the better fit. Meet the consultants, read a sample scope and speak to references before deciding.

How often do Zoho partner tiers change?

Zoho evaluates partners once a year and updates tier status by January of the following year. A partner can move up, stay or move down, and must keep certifications current to hold its tier. Ask when the badge on a partner's website was last updated.

Can I check an individual consultant's Zoho certification?

Ask for the certificate, the product and the date. Zoho Creator certificates carry a code you can enter on Zoho's Creator verification page. For other products, ask the partner to show the certificate on a call, and test the knowledge with questions about your own process.

What is the difference between a Zoho affiliate and a consulting partner?

Affiliates earn commission for promoting Zoho and referring sales. Consulting partners implement, integrate, train and support customers, and their Find a Partner profiles show a partnership status of Authorized, Advanced or Premium. If you need a system built, you want a consulting partner.
