The partner you choose affects your Zoho project more than the software does. Use this checklist to compare partners fairly and avoid the common problems.
1. Check certification and experience
- Ask which Zoho certifications the people doing the work hold.
- Ask how many implementations of your specific Zoho app they have done.
- Look for experience in your industry, not just general Zoho knowledge.
2. Insist on a written scope
A good partner maps your process first and then writes down which Zoho apps and features will be used, what will be delivered and what is not included. Be careful of proposals that only say they will optimise your operations.
3. Find out who actually does the work
Some firms sell with senior people and deliver with juniors. Ask who will configure your system, who you will speak to week to week and what happens if that person is unavailable.
4. Ask for references and examples
- Request examples of similar projects, even if anonymised.
- Ask to speak to a past client if possible.
- Check their website and profiles for consistent, verifiable details.
5. Confirm data and account ownership
Your Zoho organisation should be in your own account, with you as the admin. You should receive documentation of what was built so you are not locked in.
6. Plan for adoption and support
- Is training included, and for which roles?
- What support is offered after go-live and for how long?
- How are changes requested and priced later?
7. Compare price on equal terms
Ask each partner for the same breakdown: discovery, configuration, migration, integrations, testing, training and support. Compare the scope, not just the total.
Red flags
- Promises of a fixed price without understanding your process.
- No written scope or timeline.
- The partner keeps admin control of your account.
- No plan for training or support.
- Pressure to buy every app in a bundle.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Zoho partner need to be in my country?
Not necessarily. Many projects run remotely. What matters is time-zone overlap, communication and knowledge of your tax and compliance needs.
Should I hire a freelancer or a firm?
Either can work. Check certification, references, scope clarity and who provides support after go-live.
Is Flowpeak Zoho certified?
Flowpeak is a registered Zoho partner based in Chennai, and its consultants hold Zoho certifications; partner details are shared on request. We serve clients remotely.
