By Harikrishnan, Founder & Chief Zoho Consultant, Flowpeak · 10+ years in Zoho · Published · Last updated

Choose ServiceTitan if you run a larger residential or commercial trade business that needs call booking, deep price books, marketing attribution and financing in one system. Choose Jobber if you are a small home service team that wants quick setup, a client hub and online booking. Choose Zoho FSM if you already use Zoho apps.

This comparison is for owners and operations managers of home service and trade businesses in the USA and Canada: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, landscaping, pool, solar and similar. All three products handle jobs, scheduling, technicians and invoicing, but they come from different places and suit different businesses. We set out what each one does according to its own website, where each is stronger, and the questions to ask before you sign. We are a Zoho partner, so we have tried to be especially fair to the two competitors. We do not quote prices; check each vendor's site for current plans.

What is each product built for?

ServiceTitan is built specifically for the trades. Its site lists residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, garage door, septic, pest control and more, plus commercial mechanical, refrigeration, fire and life safety and other trades. It also markets to enterprise, franchise and private-equity-backed groups.

Jobber describes itself as an all-in-one solution for home service pros and lists more than 50 industries, from lawn care and cleaning to HVAC and remodelling. Jobber says it is used by more than 400,000 home service pros.

Zoho FSM is Zoho's field service app for service businesses and contractors. It is general rather than trade-specific, and is tailored with custom fields, job sheets and workflows. Its main advantage is that it sits next to Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, Zoho Desk and the rest of the Zoho suite.

Where is ServiceTitan stronger?

ServiceTitan is the most trade-specific of the three. If you run a busy call centre, sell from a large price book, push memberships and need to tie marketing spend to booked jobs, its depth is hard to match with a general platform.

It also covers more back-office work inside one product, including purchasing and inventory, accounts payable, service agreements and project management. Its accounting integrations include QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct and Xero, which suits firms that already use those systems. It lists more than 70 pre-built integrations with trade suppliers and tools.

The trade-off is that it is a larger system to implement and run. Smaller teams may not use much of it.

Where is Jobber stronger?

Jobber is strongest for small and growing home service teams that want to be running quickly. The Client Hub, online booking, quote follow-ups, Tap to Pay on a phone and instant payouts are designed around the owner-operator who quotes in the morning and invoices from the truck.

Its marketing add-ons for reviews, email campaigns and referrals, plus a website builder, give a small business tools that Zoho FSM leaves to other apps. Consumer financing through Wisetack is built into quoting.

The trade-off is breadth. Jobber does not try to be a full CRM, help desk or accounting system, so you will still connect it to QuickBooks Online or Xero.

Where is Zoho FSM stronger?

Zoho FSM wins when field service is one part of a wider Zoho setup. Invoices from work orders land in Zoho Books, sales history lives in Zoho CRM through the FSM extension, and support tickets can sit in Zoho Desk. Reporting across all of it can run in Zoho Analytics.

It also offers a Free edition, asset management and maintenance plans from the Professional edition, and skills, shifts and territory permissions on Premium. Custom functions, webhooks and REST APIs allow custom builds. It runs in a Canadian data centre as well as the US one, which some Canadian clients ask about.

The trade-off is depth in trade-specific areas. Zoho's FSM pages do not list consumer financing, a customer self-service portal or call-centre booking tools, so check those gaps against your needs.

What should US and Canadian businesses check before choosing?

  • Sales tax and GST/HST: confirm how each product handles your state, provincial or multi-jurisdiction tax, or whether that happens in your accounting system. In Zoho, taxes are set in Zoho Books or Invoice.
  • Payments: ask about card processing, Tap to Pay and payouts in Canada as well as the US, since payment features often differ by country.
  • Financing: consumer financing partners may not cover every state or province. Ask each vendor directly.
  • Data residency: if Canadian clients ask where data is stored, ask each vendor. Zoho FSM lists a Canadian data centre.
  • Accounting fit: if you are committed to QuickBooks Desktop or Sage Intacct, ServiceTitan has native support. If you want to move off QuickBooks, Zoho Books is an option.

What mistakes do businesses make when choosing?

  • Choosing on feature count rather than the three or four workflows that make you money.
  • Ignoring the accounting system. Double entry between field software and the books is a frequent complaint.
  • Skipping a field test. Give technicians the app for a week of real jobs before you commit.
  • Underestimating data migration of customers, price lists and service history.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zoho FSM a good ServiceTitan alternative?

For smaller and mid-sized service businesses that already use Zoho, it can be. For large residential or commercial trade operations that depend on call booking, trade price books, memberships and financing, ServiceTitan offers more trade-specific depth. Compare your top workflows against each product before deciding.

Is Jobber easier to set up than Zoho FSM?

Jobber is designed for owner-operators to start quickly with quoting, scheduling and invoicing. Zoho FSM is also quick for basic use, but most businesses choose it to connect with Zoho CRM and Books, and that integration work takes more planning than a standalone app.

Which works with QuickBooks?

ServiceTitan integrates with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, and Jobber syncs with QuickBooks Online. Zoho FSM bills through Zoho Books or Zoho Invoice rather than QuickBooks, so businesses choosing Zoho FSM usually move their accounting to Zoho Books as well.

Do all three work in Canada?

Ask each vendor directly. Features such as payments, financing and tax handling can vary by country, so confirm what is available in your province before signing. Zoho FSM lists a Canadian data centre, and tax is handled in Zoho Books with GST, HST and PST support.
