Zoho CRM Zia AI Features in 2027: What They Do and How to Use Them
By Harikrishnan, Founder & Chief Zoho Consultant, Flowpeak · 10+ years in Zoho · Published · Last updated
Zia is the AI built into Zoho CRM. It scores leads and deals, predicts outcomes, flags unusual trends, suggests the best time and channel to contact people, reads email and call sentiment, enriches records, drafts and summarizes text, and runs Zia Agents. Most features need a paid edition, and some start at Enterprise.

This guide is for business owners and sales managers in the USA, Canada, the UK and Europe, the Gulf and India who already use Zoho CRM, or plan to, and want to know what Zia can do for a sales team in 2027. You will see each Zia feature in plain terms, which editions Zoho lists it under, how Zia Agents fit in, how to switch features on and tune them, and the data quality work that decides whether any of it is useful.
What does Zia actually do inside Zoho CRM?
Zia does four kinds of work inside Zoho CRM. It predicts (scores, win likelihood, churn risk, forecasts). It recommends (next step, best time and mode to contact, products to offer). It generates (email drafts, record and note summaries, and even modules, reports and workflows from a prompt). And it acts, through Zia Agents that carry out tasks such as lead qualification or quote creation.
Ask Zia is the conversational layer on top. A rep or manager can type a request, such as asking for open deals closing this month, and Zia returns records, insights or an action. Admins can also ask Zia to draft a new module, report or workflow, which they then review before switching it on. This is useful for first drafts, but someone who understands your sales process still needs to check field names, criteria and who gets notified.
Zoho describes all of these on its Zia for CRM pages. What you get depends on your edition, your data center and how much clean history your CRM holds. A new CRM with a few hundred records will not give strong predictions on day one, because the models learn from your own past wins and losses.
Which Zia features matter most for a sales team?
The table below covers the features most sales teams use. Edition notes reflect Zoho's current US edition comparison and can change, so confirm them on Zoho's own edition comparison for your region before you buy.
| Feature | What it does | Edition note (check Zoho) |
|---|---|---|
| Zia scores | Ranks leads and deals by how likely they are to convert | Listed from Professional |
| Field prediction | Predicts a field you choose, such as win or loss, with limits per org | Professional and up; more predictions in Ultimate |
| Churn prediction | Scores which customers are at risk of leaving | Listed from Enterprise |
| Anomaly detection and alerts | Flags unusual dips or spikes against expected trends and notifies people | Basic alerts in all paid editions; fuller anomaly features from Enterprise |
| Best time and mode to contact | Suggests when and how to reach each contact | Listed from Professional |
| Email insights | Sentiment, intent, emotion, thread summaries and drafting help | Listed from Professional |
| Call insights | Transcribes recordings and gives sentiment, intent and a summary | Listed from Professional; transcription minutes are metered |
| Data enrichment | Adds public company and contact details and reads email signatures | All paid editions, with a per-user record limit |
| Generative help | Drafts emails, summarizes records and notes, creates modules and workflows from prompts | Listed from Professional; model choice set by admin |
| Zia Agents | Run tasks such as lead qualification, coaching and quotes | Paid plans; agent access and LLM usage set up separately |
If one feature drives your buying decision, ask Zoho or your partner to confirm it in writing for your edition and data center.
Which Zoho CRM edition do you need for Zia?
For most sales teams, Professional is the starting point for useful Zia features, and Enterprise is where the deeper ones appear. In Zoho's current US comparison, the Free edition lists no Zia features. Standard lists data enrichment, basic anomaly notifications and image-to-Canvas. Professional adds Zia scores, field prediction, best time to contact, email and call insights, Ask Zia and Zia Agents. Enterprise adds churn prediction, next best experience, workflow suggestions and record owner suggestions. Ultimate raises the limits.
Some features also depend on team size. Zoho's comparison notes user thresholds for items such as next best experience and best time to contact analytics. License prices vary by region and billing cycle, so check Zoho's pricing page for your region rather than relying on a figure you saw elsewhere.
How do Zia Agents fit into sales work in 2027?
Zia Agents are the newest layer. Zoho announced Zia Agents, Zia Agent Studio, an Agent Marketplace and an MCP server in July 2025, rolling out to early access first. By 2026, Zoho's CRM help documents prebuilt sales agents you can deploy: an SDR Agent for early qualification, a Sales Coach Agent for deal feedback, a Quote Creation Agent and an Account Manager Agent that flags at-risk accounts. Marketplace agents such as Deal Analyzer and Revenue Growth Specialist can be hired from Zoho's agent store.
You build or hire an agent in Zia Agents, then deploy it into CRM either as a Connection (it acts with a user's permissions) or as a Digital Employee with its own role and profile. Zoho's agents pricing page says creating and running agents has no platform fee and you pay for model usage, either with your own OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key or through Zoho-hosted models with a monthly allowance. Zoho marks that page as subject to change. For a short explainer on agents for small teams, see what Zia Agents are in Zoho CRM.
How do you switch on and tune Zia?
Only a CRM administrator can turn most Zia features on. The order below avoids the common mistake of switching everything on at once and then ignoring it.
- Clean the data first: merge duplicates, fill lead source and stage fields, and close old open deals as won or lost.
- Open Setup, then Zia, and review which features your edition shows.
- Choose a generative model under Zia's model settings: Zoho's hosted LLM where your edition supports it, or your own OpenAI account through an API key.
- Turn on Zia scores and one field prediction for the outcome you care most about, such as deal won or lost.
- Add anomaly alerts for two or three numbers your managers watch weekly.
- Enable email and call insights for one team first and agree how reps should use sentiment.
- Pilot one Zia Agent on a narrow task, with a person reviewing its output for a month.
- Review accuracy each quarter and retire anything nobody uses.
What should you watch before relying on Zia?
Treat Zia output as advice, not fact. Predictions are only as good as your history, so a team that rarely marks deals lost will get optimistic scores. Generative drafts can be wrong or off-tone, and reps should read before they send.
Check where your data is processed. Zoho's help says its Zia models feature is available in its US, EU, India, Australia, Canada and Japan data centers. If your account is in another data center, such as Saudi Arabia, confirm what is available before you plan around it. If you connect an outside model such as OpenAI, your prompts go to that provider, so review its terms and your own privacy obligations with your lawyer. Zoho also notes that portal users cannot use Zia.
Finally, agree on who acts on each signal. An anomaly alert that lands in a shared inbox, or a churn score nobody reviews, adds noise without changing results.

Frequently asked questions
Is Zia included in every Zoho CRM edition?
No. Zoho's edition comparison lists no Zia features in the Free edition, a few in Standard, most from Professional and the deeper predictive features from Enterprise. Check the comparison for your region.
Does Zia need a lot of data to work well?
Predictions improve with more closed deals and consistent fields. A CRM with little history or messy stages will give weak scores until the data improves.
Can Zia use ChatGPT instead of Zoho's own model?
Yes. An administrator can connect an OpenAI account with an API key, and that account then powers generative features for the whole organization. Zoho's hosted model is the other option where your edition supports it.
Are Zia Agents charged separately?
Zoho's agents pricing page says building and deploying agents has no platform fee and you pay for model usage. Zoho marks this as subject to change, so check the current page.
Who should own Zia settings in our company?
Pick one CRM administrator to own settings and a sales manager to review accuracy each quarter. That pairing keeps features switched on only where they help.
