Why is my Zoho Creator subform slow or unresponsive?

Subforms slow down when they hold many rows, run scripts on every field change, load large lookup lists, or recalculate totals across all rows each time. The fix is usually to filter lookups, move heavy logic to on success, reduce rows per entry, and avoid looping through every row on each change. Test changes on a copy of the app.

Every on user input script in a subform runs in the browser as the user types. If a script loops through all rows, fetches records and updates totals, it repeats that work on every change. With dozens of rows, that makes the form feel frozen. Lookup fields that load thousands of choices add more delay on each new row.

Start by finding the heavy parts. Turn off scripts one at a time in a test copy and see which change helps. Filter lookups so they only show relevant records, such as active items for the selected supplier. Move calculations that are not needed on screen to the on success event. Use simple formula fields where possible instead of scripts.

If a single entry needs hundreds of rows, a subform may be the wrong design. Consider a separate child form with a lookup to the parent, and add rows through bulk import or a report with inline edit.
