How do I add a Zoho partner to my Zoho account?
There are two separate steps. To link a partner to your subscription, an admin opens Upgrade/Manage Subscription, chooses Tag your Partner and enters the partner's code. To let the partner work in your apps, you add their person as a user or admin with only the access they need, then remove it when the work ends.

Tagging a partner is a billing link, not a login. Zoho's Tag your Partner guide says an admin opens any subscribed app, clicks the profile icon, chooses Upgrade/Manage Subscription and then Tag your Partner. You select the services, click Map Partner, enter the partner code and confirm. Only admin users can do this. The partner then earns commission on those services. You can tag different partners for different apps and change partner later.
To let a consultant actually build things, add them as a user. In Zoho One, an admin goes to the Admin Panel, then User Management, then Add User. To give admin rights, use Admins and Roles, then Assign Admin, and limit what they manage to specific applications or groups where you can. In a single app such as Zoho CRM, add them under the app's own user settings and give them a suitable profile and role.
Adding a user normally uses a paid licence. Some apps offer a cheaper route for build work. Zoho CRM and Zoho Projects sandboxes let you add developers without buying user licences, and Zoho Creator has application sandboxes too. Accountants can be invited to Zoho Books with their own access. Building in a sandbox first also protects your live data.
Keep control of your account. Your company should own the super admin login, the subscription and the payment card. Never share your own password. Give the consultant a named login, ideally with two-factor authentication, so their actions are logged. When the project ends, unassign any admin role, reassign integrations they own, then deactivate the user. Also review API connections and connected apps they created.
Key points
- Tag your Partner links a partner to your subscription for commission; it does not grant access.
- Only admins can tag a partner, using the partner's code under Upgrade/Manage Subscription.
- To let a partner work in your apps, add them as a named user or admin with limited scope.
- CRM and Projects sandboxes let you add developers without buying extra user licences.
- Keep the super admin, subscription and card in your company's name, and remove access when work ends.
Common questions
Does tagging a partner give them access to my data?
No. Tagging links the partner to your subscription so they earn commission and Zoho knows who is helping you. Access to your apps is only given when you add them as a user.
Should I make my consultant a super admin?
Usually not. Give an admin role limited to the apps they are working on, and keep the super admin with someone inside your company.
How do I change or remove my Zoho partner?
On the Tag your Partner page, select the service and choose Change Partner, then enter the new partner's code. Zoho also offers a Partner Association Request if you have a concern about your current partner.
What should I do when the project is finished?
Unassign their admin roles, move any integrations they own to an internal admin, then deactivate their user. Check connected apps and API tokens as well.
