Is there a free developer or sandbox edition of Zoho CRM for testing?

Zoho offers a free developer edition of Zoho CRM through its developer programme, mainly for building and testing extensions and integrations. Separately, paid Zoho CRM editions include a sandbox, a copy of your setup where you can test changes safely before deploying them. The developer edition is a standalone CRM account meant for developers. It is useful for trying the API, building a Marketplace extension or testing an integration without touching a company's live account. It is not a copy of your business setup, so it will not contain your fields, layouts or data.

A sandbox is different. It is created from your production CRM and copies its configuration, such as modules, fields, layouts, workflows and permissions. You build and test changes there, then deploy them to production. On some editions you can also bring in a sample of records so tests feel realistic. Sandbox count and data limits vary by edition.

For most businesses, the sandbox is the one that matters. Use it for any change that could affect live data, such as new workflows, Blueprints or functions that update records. Keep a short change log of what you deploy, and test again in production with one record after deploying, because integrations and email settings may behave differently there.
