Why is the Zoho CRM interface so cluttered, and can it be simplified for my team?
Zoho CRM looks cluttered because it ships with many modules, fields and related lists to suit every type of business. You can simplify it a lot: hide unused modules, trim layouts and fields per role, remove related lists, set up a clean home page per role and, on supported editions, redesign record pages with Canvas. Most teams only need a few modules.

Out of the box, Zoho CRM shows leads, contacts, accounts, deals, tasks, meetings, calls, products, quotes, campaigns, cases and more. Each module comes with default fields and related lists. That breadth is why one product can serve a consultancy, a distributor and a clinic, but it also means a new user sees a lot they will never use.
Start with the menu. Hide modules nobody uses, or restrict them by profile so only the right roles see them. Then clean each layout: remove or hide unused fields, group the rest into a few sections, and drop related lists that add noise. Different roles can have different layouts, so a sales rep and a support agent each see only what matters to them.
Next, set up home pages and default views. Give each role a dashboard and a list view filtered to their own open work. On editions with Canvas, you can design record pages so the key fields and actions sit at the top. Review the setup after a month, because users will tell you what they still ignore.
If you would rather have this done for you, Flowpeak can run a short audit of your CRM and simplify modules, layouts and views by role without losing data. The changes are tested with a few real users before rollout, and you get 30 days of free fixes after go-live.
Key points
- Hide or restrict modules your team does not use.
- Trim each layout to the fields people actually fill in.
- Remove related lists that add noise.
- Create role-based home pages and filtered list views.
- Use Canvas on supported editions to clean up record pages.
Common questions
Will hiding fields delete their data?
No. Hiding a field from a layout keeps the data, while deleting a field removes it, so hide first if unsure.
Can each user choose their own view?
Yes. Users can create personal list views and filters within what their profile allows.
