What Zoho data centre should I choose, and can I move later?
Choose the Zoho data centre closest to where your data must legally live and where your users are. Zoho runs data centres in several regions, including the US, EU, India, Australia, Japan, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and others. Moving later is not a self-service option and usually requires Zoho's help, if it is possible at all, so decide carefully before you sign up.

Data residency usually decides it. European businesses under GDPR often choose the EU data centre. Saudi and UAE businesses may prefer their local centres for regulation and customer trust. Government or healthcare clients sometimes require data in-country. Speed matters less than people expect, but users far from the data centre may notice slightly slower response.
Your data centre is set when you create the account, based on the domain you sign up through or your selection. All Zoho apps in that organisation then live in the same centre. If you later add Zoho One or another app, it joins the same location. Check your current one by looking at the domain in your browser.
Moving between data centres is uncommon. It may involve Zoho support reviewing the request, a migration window and reconnecting integrations, and some apps may not be movable. Contact Zoho support before planning a move. The cheaper path is to pick right at the start, especially if you serve customers in more than one region.
Key points
- Check legal and client requirements for where data must be stored.
- Note where most of your users and customers are.
- Sign up through the regional Zoho site for that data centre.
- Confirm the data centre in account settings after sign-up.
- Ask Zoho support early if you ever need to move.
Common questions
Can different Zoho apps sit in different data centres?
Within one organisation, apps normally share the same data centre.
Does the EU data centre make me GDPR compliant?
It helps with data residency, but GDPR also covers consent, access and retention, which you must manage.
