Can you import existing projects into Zoho Projects from another tool?

Yes. Zoho Projects can import tasks from CSV or Excel files, Microsoft Project files, and has had dedicated importers for some tools such as Basecamp. For other tools like Asana, Trello or Monday.com, export to CSV and import tasks, then rebuild templates, statuses and automation. Comments and attachments often need extra work or a migration tool.

Start with what the source tool can export. Most let you export tasks with names, owners, dates, statuses and descriptions to CSV. Zoho Projects imports these into a project, with a mapping step for fields. Microsoft Project MPP files can be imported to keep task structure and dependencies, subject to Zoho's current limits.

Before importing, set up users, task statuses, custom fields and project templates in Zoho Projects. Owners can only be mapped if the users already exist. Import one test project and check dates, subtasks and dependencies before moving the rest.

Decide what history to bring. Active projects usually move in full. Closed projects can often stay archived in the old tool or be exported as files. Comments, attachments and time logs are harder to move and may need a migration service or API work.
