What are the disadvantages of Zoho?
The main disadvantages of Zoho are a steep learning curve, overlapping apps that confuse buyers, uneven polish between products, slow or inconsistent support, and reporting and customisation that often need Zoho Analytics or Deluge code. None of these are deal-breakers for most small businesses, but they are real.

Zoho is broad, and that breadth causes confusion. Bigin and Zoho CRM both manage deals, Zoho Invoice, Zoho Books and Zoho Billing overlap on invoicing, and Zoho Campaigns and Zoho Marketing Automation overlap on email marketing. New customers often pick the wrong app or buy features twice. The interface also differs between apps, so moving from CRM to Books to Desk can feel like using three products.
Depth varies by app. Zoho CRM and Zoho Books are mature, but some newer or smaller apps lack features that specialist tools have had for years. Built-in CRM reporting is limited for cross-module analysis, which pushes many teams to Zoho Analytics. Advanced changes usually need Deluge, Zoho's own scripting language, and Zoho Creator and CRM have execution and API limits you can hit at scale.
Support is a common complaint. Free and lower-tier customers often report slow replies, and complex issues can bounce between teams. Some features and integrations are not available in every data centre, so a feature shown in a US demo may not exist in your region. Free plans are also narrow, and Zoho Mail's free plan lacks IMAP and POP.
So why not use Zoho? If you need a deep, industry-specific system, have a large enterprise IT team already standardised on Microsoft or Salesforce, or cannot spend time on setup and training, another tool may suit you better. For most small and mid-size businesses, the weaknesses are manageable with a clear plan, sensible app choices and proper configuration.

Common questions
Why not to use Zoho?
Skip Zoho if you need a deep industry-specific system, are already standardised on Microsoft or Salesforce with an in-house team, or have no time for setup and training.
Is Zoho hard to learn?
The basics are easy, but configuring several connected apps well takes time. Most of the frustration comes from default setups that were never tailored to the business.
Is Zoho reliable?
Zoho is a large, established vendor, but like any cloud service it has occasional outages. Check Zoho's status page and plan a simple fallback for critical processes.
Can these problems be fixed after go-live?
Many can. Poor app choices, cluttered layouts and broken automations are usually fixable with a structured review rather than a full rebuild.
