How do I integrate Zoho People attendance with an eSSL or other biometric device?

Zoho People can receive punch data from biometric devices such as eSSL through its biometric integration options. Typically, the device logs punches to local software or a database, and a Zoho People connector or the attendance API pushes those punches to Zoho People, matched by employee ID. Map each device user ID to the right employee and test with a few staff first.

Most eSSL and similar devices store punches locally and sync them to desktop or server software at your site. Zoho People provides biometric integration tools and an attendance API to import those punches. The common setup is a small tool on a computer at the site that reads the punch data and sends it to Zoho People at set intervals.

The key step is mapping. Each person has a user ID on the device, and that must match the employee ID or a mapped field in Zoho People. Mismatches are the main reason punches do not appear. Also check time zones, shift settings and how Zoho People treats first in and last out, so attendance and overtime calculate correctly.
