Client Script in Zoho CRM is JavaScript that runs in the user's browser on CRM pages, such as when a create form loads, a field changes or a record is saved. Use it for instant feedback, like showing a warning, setting a field, hiding options or blocking a save. For background work that must run every time, use workflows and Deluge functions instead.

You create client scripts in the developer section of Zoho CRM Setup. Each script is tied to a module, a page such as create, edit or detail, and an event such as page load, field change or before save. Zoho provides a ZDK library to read and set field values, show messages and open pop-ups. The editor lets you test before you publish.

Client scripts only run when a person uses the CRM screen. They do not run for imports, API calls or records created by integrations. That is why rules that protect data, such as required values or calculations used in billing, should live in validation rules, workflows or Deluge, which run on the server for every source.

Good uses include showing a reminder when a discount is high, filling a field from another one as the user types, or stopping a save until a checklist is ticked.
