How do I build a cash flow forecast dashboard in Zoho Analytics?

Connect Zoho Books (or your accounting app) to Zoho Analytics, then build reports on open invoices, open bills, recurring transactions and bank balances grouped by expected date. Combine them into a running cash position by week or month. Zoho Analytics can add a trend forecast to a chart, but a reliable cash forecast comes from dated receivables, payables and known commitments, not from the trend line alone.

Start with the built-in Zoho Books connector in Zoho Analytics. It syncs invoices, bills, payments, bank accounts and journals on a schedule, and it comes with prebuilt finance reports you can copy and adapt. Check the sync interval, because a forecast built on data that refreshes once a day is fine for planning but not for checking today's balance.

A useful forecast has three parts. Opening cash comes from your bank account balances. Inflows come from unpaid invoices by due date, adjusted for how late customers usually pay. Outflows come from unpaid bills, recurring expenses, payroll and loan payments. Build a query table that unions these into one list of dated amounts, then a pivot or line chart that shows the running total by week.

Keep the assumptions visible. Add a simple table for items that are not in Books yet, such as planned capital spend or tax payments, and include it in the union. Zoho Analytics also offers forecasting on time-series charts, which is helpful for seeing a revenue trend, but treat it as a sense check. Review the dashboard with your accountant once before relying on it.

If you would rather have this set up for you, Flowpeak can build the data model and dashboard and walk your finance team through how to maintain it.

Key points

  • Connect Zoho Books to Zoho Analytics and confirm the sync schedule.
  • Build a query table combining opening cash, open invoices and open bills by date.
  • Add a manual table for planned items such as tax, loans and capital spend.
  • Create a weekly running-balance chart and a table of the largest upcoming items.
  • Review the numbers against your bank and Books once a month.

Common questions

Do I need SQL to build this?

Basic SQL helps for the query table that combines inflows and outflows, but you can do much of it with the drag-and-drop report builder.

Can I forecast for several Zoho Books organisations together?

Yes, you can sync more than one organisation into Analytics and combine them in one model, with care over currencies.
