Can I apply different user filters to reports on the same Zoho Analytics dashboard?

Yes. In Zoho Analytics you can add user filters to a dashboard and choose which reports each filter applies to. A filter can drive one report, several reports or all of them, as long as the reports share the column or a related column. For per-user data restrictions, use sharing filter criteria rather than dashboard filters, because viewers can change dashboard filters themselves.

Dashboard user filters are the dropdowns, date pickers and sliders viewers use to slice the data. When you add one in the dashboard editor, you can set which reports it should affect. This lets you put a region filter that changes only the sales charts and a separate date filter that changes the finance charts. The reports must be built on tables that contain the filter column, or on tables linked through a lookup, for the filter to apply.

If what you actually need is that each person only sees their own data, that is a different feature. When you share a dashboard or its underlying views, you can add filter criteria per user or group so the restriction is applied on the server side. Viewers cannot remove those. Dashboard user filters are a convenience, not a security control.

Test the setup by opening the dashboard as a shared user or in a private browser session. Check that each filter only moves the reports you expected, and that reports built on different tables do not show blank results when a filter has no matching column. Exact options can vary by plan and recent updates, so check the current Zoho Analytics help page if a setting looks different.

Key points

  • Open the dashboard in edit mode and add a user filter.
  • Choose the column and select which reports the filter applies to.
  • Repeat for each additional filter with its own report selection.
  • Use sharing filter criteria if you need per-user data restrictions.
  • Test as a shared user to confirm each filter behaves as intended.

Common questions

Why does my filter not change one of the reports?

Usually the report is built on a table that does not contain that column and has no lookup relationship to it, or the report was not selected for that filter.

Can a viewer bypass a dashboard filter?

Yes, dashboard filters can be changed by viewers. Use sharing filter criteria when the restriction matters.
