Zoho Books has projects for tracking time, costs and billing per job, reporting tags for splitting income and expenses by things like department or region, and branches or locations on editions that support them. Combined, they give profit and loss views by project or location. The key is tagging every transaction consistently, including bills and expenses, not just invoices.

Projects in Zoho Books suit service work. You can log time, attach expenses and bills to a project, and bill the customer by project. Project reports then show revenue against cost. For product businesses or overhead splits, reporting tags work better. You create tags such as Location or Business Line, mark them mandatory on chosen transactions, and filter the profit and loss report by tag.

Branches or locations, available on certain editions and regions, go further by linking transactions, stock and sometimes tax registrations to a location. That is useful when each site runs like a small business. Check which of these your plan and country edition include, as availability differs.

The weak point is discipline. If staff skip the tag on a bill, the report is wrong. Make tags mandatory where you can, review untagged items monthly, and decide how shared costs like rent are allocated. A small journal at month end can split shared costs across locations.
