Can Zoho Books integrate with Gusto payroll instead of Zoho Payroll?

Gusto lists a Zoho Books integration, but check exactly what it syncs before relying on it, because it may not post full payroll journals. Many US businesses using Gusto with Zoho Books record each pay run as a summary journal, either manually or through a sync tool. Zoho Payroll links more tightly with Books but is available only in certain US states and countries.

Gusto's integration page and settings describe what is shared with Zoho Books, and the scope can differ by Gusto plan. Read it carefully. If it covers user or account management but not wages, taxes and benefits by account, you will still need a way to post payroll costs into Books.

The simple method is a journal per pay run. Take the Gusto payroll summary and post gross wages, employer taxes, benefits, withholdings and net pay to the right accounts. Clear the net pay against the bank feed. Some firms use Zoho Flow or a third-party sync tool to automate this. Either way, agree the account mapping with your accountant first.

Zoho Payroll is worth checking if you are in a supported state, since it posts to Books directly. If not, Gusto with a clean journal routine works well and is common.
